Deputy Commissioner of Health

Responsibilities

Please note, the Orange County Department of Health has two Deputy Commissioner positions. This specific position directly supervises the Department’s 9-person fiscal division and oversees the budgetary and fiscal aspects of the Department. This includes state aid reimbursement, preparation and adherence to the annual budget, managing vendor and consultant contracts, supervising the grant process, and authorizing and monitoring expenses.  This position is also tasked with oversight of the Department’s physical property including buildings, vehicles, and equipment in collaboration with other County departments. It requires excellent communication skills with internal Department staff, other County employees, legislators, state and federal partners, and grantors.

Minimum Qualification

Any combination of training and experience deemed acceptable to the Commissioner of Health.

Prefer a candidate with the following:

• Master’s Degree is Business Administration or Public Administration
• CPA
• Fiscal or accounting work experience
• Experience creating and/or managing a complex budget
• Experience with grant management and deliverables
• 3+ years supervisory experience
