Responsibilities
Madison County seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Children with Special Needs Program in the Public Health Department responsible for overseeing the Madison County Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs Information and Referral (CYSHCN I&R) program by connecting with families and providing resources, information, making appropriate referrals and encouraging parent participation and advocacy. The incumbent completes reports, maintains documentation, coordinates outreach as well as coordinating transportation services for children participating in the Early Intervention (EI) and Pre-K programs in Madison County. The work is performed under the direct supervision of the Director of Children with Special Needs Program with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment. Direct supervision is exercised over subordinate professional, paraprofessional and clerical staff. The incumbent performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualification
Either:
A) Possession of a Master’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, Health Services Management, Human Services or a related field, AND one (1) year of full-time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, in human services administration, disability services or a related field; OR
B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, Health Services Management, Human Services or a related field, AND three (3) years of full-time paid experience, or its part-time equivalent, in human services administration, disability services or a related field; OR
C) An equivalent combination of training and experience, as defined by the limits of (A) and (B) above.
NOTE: Degrees must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, the candidate must provide independent verification of equivalency. Salary: $58,363 (2023 minimum starting salary; 37.5 hours/week)
