The County of Rockland is seeking a candidate to perform professional medical work involving responsibility for developing and overseeing community health initiatives, especially as they pertain to health care improvement and disease prevention for communities and the general population in connection with clinic and other programs administered by the Department of Health.
Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine as applied to public health practices; thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of community medical health, including those that pertain to disease prevention; ability to research disease and health care trends and prepare reports regarding same; ability to understand and interpret written material, including but not limited to medical research; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain cooperative relations with others; ability to supervise others.
Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State and three (3) years of experience as a physician in a public health and/or community health agency (e.g., family planning, programs for high-risk children, etc.).
American board of Medical Specialties certification in either Family Medicine or Preventive Medicine.
