Responsibilities

The County of Rockland is seeking a candidate to perform professional medical work in the field of public health involving the development, implementation and coordination of a comprehensive program for the treatment and prevention of tuberculosis and other infectious diseases affecting public health.

Candidates must possess thorough knowledge of medical principles and practices, especially in the field of tuberculosis and other communicable diseases; thorough knowledge of the provisions of the New York Sanitary Code and the regulations of New York State and the Rockland County Health Department relating to the control of infectious diseases; good knowledge of public health care delivery systems; good knowledge of New York State rules, regulations and guidelines relative to the provision of patient services and the maintenance of records on communicable disease; the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; the ability to develop and implement a community wide disease prevention program; the ability to oversee the activities of staff performing activities in the area of communicable disease and the ability to work effectively with public officials, professional organizations and private groups with respect to communicable disease issues.

Minimum Qualification

A license to practice medicine issued by the State of New York and three (3) years of experience as a Physician in a public health agency.

Special Requirement

Board Certification in Infectious Diseases.
