DISTINGUISHING FEATURES:
The COVID-19 School Epidemiology Officer (“Epidemiologist”) will be responsible for all aspects of the Department’s surveillance, investigation and control activities related to COVID-19 and public and private schools in Saratoga County. As part of these responsibilities, the Epidemiologist will oversee and direct the County’s COVID-19 School Testing Program at participating elementary, middle, and high school buildings (both public and private) during the 2021-22 school year. These responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, direct and indirect supervision of program staff; data collection, organization, analysis and reporting; assuring appropriate isolation and quarantine of individuals; communicating regularly with school superintendents, COVID-19 liaisons, school nurses, school specialists, and other local health departments and staff from the New York State Department of Health. Other COVID-19 response related duties, as necessary

Minimum Qualification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Doctoral degree in public health, epidemiology or biostatistics from an accredited college or university, with concentration in epidemiology or biostatistics, and one (1) year of experience conducting an epidemiological surveillance and control program or data analysis in the areas of infectious diseases (including but not limited to COVID-19), chronic diseases and environmental conditions; OR
B) Master’s degree in public health (or equivalent degree) from an accredited college or university, with concentration in epidemiology or biostatistics; and one (1) year of experience conducting an epidemiological surveillance and control program or data analysis in the area of infectious diseases (including but not limited to COVID-19), chronic diseases or environmental conditions; OR
C) Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university, with continuing certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc., and two (2) years of experience involving epidemiological surveillance and control programs, or data analysis involving areas of infectious diseases (including but not limited to COVID-19), chronic diseases or environmental conditions.

Special Requirement

Saratoga County’s Department of Public Health is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in serving as COVID-19 School Epidemiology Officer(s). This is a temporary, full-time position expected to last at least eleven (11) months, at a rate $40/hour rate of pay, with benefits available for the duration of the assignment.

Salary: $40.00/hr
