Public Health Nurse

Responsibilities

The Orange County Department of Health is seeking to fill three to four (3-4) Public Health Nurse positions. The work involves responsibility for the performance of public health nursing activities with individuals, families, clinics and community outreach in accordance with the planned program of the agency. This is a specialized area of professional nursing practiced within the outlines of organized community health. The public health nurse has the responsibility for assessing the health care needs of patients and families, providing professional nursing care where necessary, and teaching families health principles for prevention of disease and maintenance of health. Work is performed under the supervision of a Supervising Public Health Nurse. Does related work as required.

Our Public Health Nurses provide community outreach & clinical services. This includes working with the residents of Orange County in our Tb, sexual health, and/or immunization clinics. This position offers a work/life balance & the ability to work both independently & with a team.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing as well as licensure and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse in New York State.

Special Requirement

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

Salary: $39.13 per hour ($71,222.97 annually)
