Request for Proposals
The New York State Association of County Health Officials (NYSACHO) is currently seeking proposals from experienced communications and media specialists to develop campaign materials to inform the public about harm reduction strategies. Materials may also highlight the ongoing work happening at LHDs as success stories for other LHDs to learn from. Materials may include flyers, posters, social media posts, videos, FAQs, etc.
Project Purpose and Background
In 2021, more than 100,000 individuals died from drug overdoses across the country, with more than 5,800 deaths occurring in New York. To help save lives, harm reduction strategies aim to reduce the negative consequences associated with drug use, including overdose. Harm reduction strategies include but are not limited to access to fentanyl test strips, overdose prevention centers, increased availability of naloxone and buprenorphine, and reduction of stigma. To inform communities of harm reduction principles and its associated benefits, this project will develop educational materials in consultation with NYSACHO staff, and subject matter experts from the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) and be a compliment to any existing NYSDOH’s media campaign.
