Applications are now being accepted by the Department of Health to fill a provisional Public Health Engineer vacancy. Civil Service Examination is a requirement for appointment to become permanent. Competitive Examination to be announced at a later date.
The work involves responsibility for the execution of one or more specialized phases of the public health engineering program. This is professional engineering work which entails advising public officials or individuals on problems requiring professional public health engineering knowledge and judgment, assisting in the promotion of public health through the application of public health engineering practices and assisting in the enforcement of public health law and State Sanitary Code. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Principal Public Health Engineer or Senior Public Health Engineer. Does related work as required.
A. Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant degrees with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and one (1) year of experience as a Public Health Engineer Trainee or in public health, sanitary, environmental or civil engineering; OR
B. Possession of a license to practice as a professional engineer in New York State and one (1) year of experience as a Public Health Engineer Trainee or in public health, sanitary, environmental or civil engineering.
NOTE: A Master’s Degree Public Health Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Civil Engineering may be substituted for the one year of required experience.
Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
Salary: New Employees: Grade 14, step 02: $29.0922 per hour ($52,947/annually) County Employees – According to CSEA contract
